As a rule of thumb, Bryce is the easiest to absorb in a short amount of time. Moab, with Arches and Canyonlands, offers the most diversity and highest level of activity and excitement. Part of it is to obviously beat the heat of the day, but not all of the hikes are exposed. I'm not sure when or how long it lasted, but that may have been one reason the east entrance was closed.
