My goal was as much performance/dollar as possible, while still having it be functional as a daily. I had in mind like an 50/50 street/track ratio. I decided the best possible course of action was to buy an NC Miata, and mod the ever ...Metra 70-7901 Radio Wiring Harness. Metra 1984-7501 Installation Multi-Kit for Select 1984-1997. JVC KW-M560BT. The wiring is pretty straightforward, just match the Metra harness to the units wires and the rest is plug and play. The Miata was made before double din were standard so you will have open space above and below the unit. BTW the ND1 (2014 - 2017) and ND2 (2018+) engine power and torque curves are almost identical - reworking the internals only provided extra RPM and power at the top end. The car is already powerful so you don't really need this. The NA has a linear torque curve and the 1.6L makes you work up high.two completely different sides of the spectrum. Z3 is fantastic as a car-like roadster, quiet and comfortable, feels solid, smooooth low end power delivery from the 6cyl, its the kind of car you can really enjoy driving around town and commuting to work, and still have good fun on the weekends.
